The Rescue Me star has been signed up in the new Nolan driven Dark Knight Franchise. And according to Variety he will be playing a ‘special-forces operative’. We can expect Sunjata to be playing one of the good guys due to the rant I'm about to give. Because everyone enjoys a Ben Doran rant.
Let’s look at some things here shall we? Nolan has his bad guys for the film with Hardy’s Bain and Hathaway’s Catwoman. Along with Raj Al Ghul’s daughter-Talia (Marion Cotillard) returning to cause mayhem. As well as the Holiday Killer (Joseph Gordon –Levitt) making his film debut which remains to be seen whether or not he will actually be the Holiday Killer*.
You may notice the fact that Nolan is treading on the dangerous territory of flooding his film with bad guys. This says two things to Movie Cake. 1. Nolan will likely have a lot of these characters be cameos, adding context and bulk to an otherwise 2 dimensional world. Take what he did with Cillian Murphy’s Scarecrow in the Dark Knight. A brief cameo then kapoosh, gone. I imagine they’ll be a tease of a Catwoman costume and the rest will focus on how Batman killed the father of Talia Al Ghul.
I don’t know. This one could be pretty epic. Nolan will likely leave us with such an impacting bang he’ll leave us wanting more. And that would be most unfortunate as it is his last film as director with the rebooted franchise! However, every film so far he has also said they would be his final one so there may be hope for us geek boys yet.
The film is due in cinemas 20th July 2012 will have all the usual cast back including Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.
