Fans of nepotism can rejoice today as Deadline reports that Kate Beckinsale has been offered the part of Lori in the reboot of Total Recall, which is directed by her husband Len Wiseman. Like Tim Burton it seems Wiseman has a burning desire to cast his wife in nearly every film he directs. As you will recall he made his name by directing the Underworld films, which starred Beckinsale, well her arse to be more precise.
Maybe Wiseman is living up to his name on this one though. I mean giving your wife a starring role in your film is a no-brainer really. Not only does it secure extra income for the family, you can hold it over her head at any given time.
The following is a fictional (but probably true) example of such a moment in the Wiseman household.
Len: Oh do I have to do the dishes?
Kate: It's your turn Len.
Len: But I gave you the starring role in my last two films remember.
Kate: Yeah I guess you're right. Ok I'll do the dishes.
Len: And.......action.
And do we really need another reboot? Me and Ben will be discussing this on the next Serious Slice on Saturday but here's a preview. No. We don't need another reboot. I may be willing to give Total Recall Reboot a chance though if it outdos the original and I can already think of one way it can do this. Give the woman with three breasts, four breasts instead. There you go, a simple way to outdo the original.
